Scholarships Offered Through Section 1118
ASQ Middle Tennessee section 1118 scholarship award, “The David S. Chambers Scholarship.”

Monies from the local section will provide funding annually in the amount of $1,000. Applicants will be required to submit the following:
• Scholarship application (click here)
• Statement of career objectives
• A 3-paragraph essay on the applicant’s “How to implement quality in the workplace”
• Transcript from 2 consecutive semesters of study
• Declaration of major field of study and list of courses for the next semester
• ASQ membership # or ASQ membership # of family member


Applications must be submitted to the Section 1118 Education Chair between December 1st 2009 and February 28th 2010. The scholarship will be publicized in the Paradigm newsletter and on the section website. The Education committee, consisting of the Education Chair and two other board/committee members will determine an award recipient. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously received the award. The award recipient will be recommended to the Executive Board for approval at the March business meeting of the Board and will be announced at the April general section meeting. Award recipient will be asked (if possible) to attend ASQ 1118 meeting to receive the award and be photographed for publication on web site and monthly newsletter (Paradigm).

The awarded $1,000 will be made to the college or university in the account of the recipient.
Criteria for the award will be the applicant’s GPA, their career objectives, essay, and response to application questions. Restrictions for use of money will be for tuition assistance only in an accredited college or university. Courses of study should be relative to the pursuit of quality, including, but not limited to engineering, healthcare, or education.
